15-2-49

Mr. Robison

I send this to you in Mr. Cox's absence on tour.

Mr. Wallace is away on leave at present, but, in order to save time, I should be very grateful if you would record your views :-

on the proposed increase in fees at the Hong Kong University - paragraphs 5-9 of No. 2;

(a)

(b)

on the proposed University staff 10 of No. 2;

-

paragraph

(c) on the proposed degree courses

paragraph 11

of No. 2;

(a) on the proposed request for assistance from

C.D. and W. funds paragraph 13 of No. 2 (in this connection I am sending on separately a file containing a request for assistance

from the C.D. and W. fund, estimated at £54,700, to enable the Tung Lo Eastern Hospital to be converted into an effective teaching hospital in connection with the University, but this point can, perhaps, be considered by itself);

(e) any comments, from the Education Advisers' standpoint, on the University's financial picture as presented in this despatch.

I should be grateful if you would return this file to Mr. Wallace for further consideration on his return.

A cory of the Hong Kong University Report will be found at No. 3 on this file.
